Conceptual Drawings

This was the first drawing for the concept.
This is considered a very important drawing to my concept and this stylized drawing is the skyline of Philadelphia.

This phase of my work showed a flat
2-D imagery and a keen study in
composition, form, and unity.

The imagery was more oriented
towards design, symbolic and objective figures. These consist architectural patterns and high contrast in drawing.

Preparatory drawing for painting
Metrosythesis #14. Then the drawing
become more about an all over
landscape consideration. using images
of things to guide and determine how
the landscape with look. This when I
started to use google areal view
imagery as key components in
my work. Mark making was more highly contrasted at this time, with darker marks.

Preparatory image of the painting
Metrosynthesis #21, which I
commissioned to do for the Mirrorton Apartments in 2021. This sketch demonstrate my use of unique
landscape building with the guidelines
of the core image it came from.

I tried to add some type of visual language in my art (right side up and downward). It was difficult to blend landscape elements and visual language elements in to images. This was my way of bringing in a contemporary attribute into my sketches.

Preparatory sketch for the painting Hanger Bay, which was
sold in a purchase. The top
(left to right shows my experimentation of what the expression of love, tenderness, and devotion would look like in a quick expression.

Bottom (left to right ) shows not only
visual language but a triptych of a visual story.
Similar to the Roman Renaissance
building (like the Sixteenth Chapel) sections told biblical/ mythological
stories through climatic moments.
Wanted execute this do that in a playful manner, I may explore this again in later works in the future.

This is more of the last progression as
far a sketch book drawings at
the moment. These 3 images below were apart of a triptych idea. I wanted these potential paints to have the essence of a spiritual aura able them in a way. That
why this column border is around the image as well. In addition, clouds are drawn to give a heavenly atmospheric
feel to the work. These clouds are sailing above an uncharted landscape while still taking in consideration of the initial image.
