Originality and Style

My name is Quanel Davis and I was born June 16, 1992 in Winter Haven, Florida. I grew up in Lakeland, Florida. In my childhood, some inspiration to for art was via imagination and even in my kindergarten teacher once said to my mother " ...when the other children are drawing stick figure, this child draws shape and forms....your forte will be art!". As time progressed I took art classes throughout public school and even private classes to better hone in on the craft.
The concepts for my work begun around 2004 from traveling up Atlantic Coast. When I saw the winding interstate roads within cities, it brought a sense of joy, curiosity, and amazement to me! This was a far contrast from Florida. On December 6, 2006, I started to create an imaginary municipality with intricate roadways and connecting cities. This creates was made on 50 notebook paper pages (5 pages tall and 10 pages across). This inspired me to expand upon my concept over the years with my artwork. Other motivators came from my University of South Florida influences all my teachers encouraged me to be conceptual, unapologetic, tenacious, wild, but intentional.
Creating something out of nothing is the fundamentals of our very existence. Our Universe as a whole was created out of nothing therefore anything can made out of something. Compositions from the everyday tends to be the basis for my work; other additives are colors, contrast, form, unity, and 2D/3D components that play an important part. Satellite views of interesting places all over the world and decorative patterns are essential as well. As I get other I want to make an impact to my community, the world, and ultimately my own life and others. As my work continues to progress, I have realized that it is a has became a further investigation of landscape art through all ways I use to create my art.
Viewers of all ages can enjoy the energy injected in my work, which I consider an extension of my being. I want the people to start a conversation and to be engulfed in an open window to my escapade. My ultimate goal is to make an impact in my community before making an impact on the world. I want to be commissioned and/or contracted to do artwork for public/commercial/residential spaces.
